The National Network of Women Human Rights Defenders of Honduras

The National Network of Women Human Rights Defenders of Honduras is a space for women human rights defenders who seek protection and resources for self-care. It’s a space where women human rights defenders can express their needs in the face of a national context that systematically violates their rights. In an interview, a member of the Network states: “We think that it’s a time when we should re-think political activism and the way we defend human rights, and stand up for more human practices; to stop thinking that we’re “heroes” or “brave women” and re-imagine ourselves as women who are doing what we have to do, in the time we’re allotted. In Honduras, and all of Latin America, we’re facing a historic moment in which social movements are finding other ways to see their struggles, and we, the Network of Women Human Rights Defenders, are part of that re-imagining.
