La Red Radio

This year we’re helping launch a new radio by women, for women! La Red Radio is the voice of the National Network of Women Human Rights Defenders of Honduras. 

Why choose radio as a tool for women’s rights? Because Honduras urgently needs a space to speak out against violations of women’s human rights. In the words of a member of the Network of Women Human Rights Defenders: “We know that the mainstream media silences violence against women, but La Red Radio will be a more human radio, closer to the people, to women, to all of us who face hardships that move us to defend ourselves by standing up for our human rights.” The only way to survive these hardships is joining forces, and the best way to unite is to share our everyday experiences as women. A radio is the ideal medium to connect with as many listeners as possible.
